- Just a friendly reminder that every student should be bringing a snack to school every day. It needs to be healthy. Since Easter a lot of candy has been coming in. This is not allowed.
- The spring picture day scheduled on Tuesday April 9th is a little different this year than past years. This year they will ONLY take pictures of students that bring in an envelope with payment on the day of pictures. In the past they have taken pictures of all children and gave you the option to order. They have changed their policy. Sr. Lorraine is still allowing all children to wear color clothes that day. They should, however, be dressed nicely (no jeans!)
- “Safety Day” is scheduled for Friday, April 12th. It goes from 9 – 11. For this reason we will have our Reading, Grammar, and Spelling test on Thursday instead of Friday. This will also be a color day. Students should be sure to wear jeans/pants because they will be outside. (No skirts/dresses for girls that day!)
March Events:
- Sunday, March 10th - Mother/Son Bowling at Brunswick Zone from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.

Kiddos Hard at Work!
The kids have been hard at work creating a whole bunch of wonderful projects to fill up our bulletin boards at school. For Halloween we made spiders and monsters! Our spiders have "Creepy Couplets". Couplets are simple two line poems that have the last word rhyming. For example "The witch was flying through the night, Black cats and pumpkins came walking into sight". This helped us practice our phonics skills.
We also made Monster Glyphs. Along with our Glyphs we created "Monster Sentences". This was a great way to get the kids to make their sentences longer with more detail. They described their monster and named their monster in on sentence. In a second sentence they told what the monster does, where he/she does it, and when she does it. I loved this new project so much I took pictures of each monster to display in a slideshow below. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do! Watch it with your son or daughter and they can point on which monster belongs to them!

Notebook
Hi parents - It has been brought to my attention that the notebook I requested for you to get is more difficult to find than I was anticipating. If you are having trouble finding it - no worries. If need be I will order them online or request a different notebook. Thanks! Some stores might have this one below. This one is acceptable as well! The mead notebook I'm looking for is the "Primary Composition" It is the one that has lines on the whole page, not just half (like the Mead Primary Journal). In my letter home I wrote that it was a #3. I believe Target and Walmart do have the Primary Composition, but it says K-2 on it, not 3. As long as it is a full page of lines then that is what I'm looking for.
Summer Letter
Dear Families,
I hope your summer was relaxing and enjoyable. My summer was wonderful, but I am excited to get back to school! I am looking forward to getting to know your child. But with summer coming to an end, it’s time to get ready for the upcoming school year and heading back to school. The school supply list is available online on the FAS website www.francoamericanschool.org. I do ask that you try to bring as many of those items, if not all, the first day or two to school to keep me from having to search for them. There are a few items that are not on the list that I would also like you to purchase as well.
It is school policy to have all workbooks covered. Please purchase clear contact paper to cover these five workbooks. I will be sending one or two home a night the first few days of school to be covered for homework. Also, please purchase a book sock (Jumbo Size) for the hard covered reading book. I will not be sending it home, so please send the book sock to school the first day and we will cover them in the classroom together. The clear contact paper and book sock can be found at many stores including Walmart, Target, CVS, Walgreens, Staples, etc. You may have noticed on the supply list that 2nd grade has omitted notebooks. The reason for this is because I would like for you to buy one specific notebook. It is the Mead Primary Composition Notebook #3 (I have included a picture below of the notebook – Target, Walmart, etc.) I also ask for your help in labeling (with pen or black sharpie marker) a few items on the supply list with your child’s name before they arrive at school the first day. It will save me a lot of time! These items are:
All 4 folders
Addition and Subtraction flash card boxes
Art supply box
Both crayon boxes
Both marker boxes
All 3 large erasers (remove from packaging
– initials are okay!)
Mead Primary Composition Notebook ---------------------------->
Thank you so much for all this help in advance! It will make our first day in 2A much easier for us all! If you need to get a hold of me for any reason before August 28th, you can reach me by email at [email protected]. Also our classroom website is underway – check it out it you have some free time http://francoamerican2a.weebly.com/ . Be sure to enjoy these last few sunny days! I look forward to the exciting school year ahead! See you soon.
Sincerely,
Ms. Landry
